Bioplastics and biodegradability Q&A
This document seeks to answer the most frequently asked questions on a topic which is and will be more and more significant for the plastics converting industry in Europe.
REACh in the Composites Industry
REACh is the new European chemicals legislation that came into force by June 1st 2007. In REACh the responsibility to work safely with chemicals is shifted towards the chemical industry.
UP Resin Handling Guide
EuCIA's has developed together with the UP Resin Group of PlasticsEurope a series of safe handling guides for composite manufacturers working with unsaturated polyester resins. The series, called the UP Resin Handling Guide, intends to help composite manufacturers to meet the increasingly severe requirements of the European health, safety and evironment legislation.
The UP Resin Handling Guide provides processors of unsaturated polyester resins with information about the best available emission control techniques for reducing styrene emissions in the work place in order to reduce worker exposure, and how to fulfil the requirements of "clean air" legislation in order to protect the environment.
At this moment the UP Resin Handling Guide consists of 13 different documents in pdf format. The original documents are kept on the website of PlasticsEurope. under the following link:

At this moment the following EuCIA versions are available on the EuCIA website. They can be downloaded by clicking the links below.
Eucia finds synergy in the plastics industry
On 10th January 2007, the European Composites Industry Association (EuCIA)
represented by Volker Fritz (President), the European Association of the Unsaturated
Polyester Resins Producers (Plastics Europe UPR Group) represented by Dominique
Vincent (President) and the European Plastics Converters (EuPC) represented by
Alexandre Dangis (Managing Director) agreed to form an alliance for composites based
in Brussels. Each of the parties agreed to work together towards a stronger European
representation of the composites industry.
This alliance will fulfil 3 major tasks for the expansion of the composites industry in
Europe: advocacy and influence decision making in Europe, market promotion and PR,
and industry education and alignment.
Membership to Eucia is open for all composites associations in Europe. National
organisation and current sectoral and market composites organisations are invited to
join.
?We have enlarged our coverage by joining the EuPC as a sector group and benefiting of
their expertise in EU issues. The new group is open to all market groups in the
composites world as well as raw material suppliers to support a dynamic industry
continuous development? according to Fritz.
